Through our educator engagement offerings, LabXchange enables science educators to contribute a deep understanding of curricular frameworks, a passion for creating engaging, effective learning resources, and expertise about innovative teaching methodologies to our platform.
The LabXchange Teacher Ambassador Program supports middle and high school science teachers. The program is designed to empower educators by giving them a platform and the tools to collaborate and share innovative ideas and strategies to transform science education and support tomorrow's changemakers.
LabXchange offers accessible STEM learning material for teachers and learners around the world. We continue to expand our curricular resources to offer more subject areas to meet the diverse needs of teachers and learners.

Amy Balling teaches biology and Earth science at Lancaster High School in Lancaster, New York, and has over 25 years of classroom experience. She creates her own short and engaging instructional videos, which her students use to interactively process the curriculum in the online classroom. In the online environment, Amy differentiates instruction for each student's specific learning style, allowing engaged students to focus and work at their own pace to master each topic. Melisa Dettbarn is a science educator with a passion for student-driven learning experiences that connect community, current environmental issues, and innovative teaching practices enriched with technology. Outside of the classroom, Melisa enjoys time with her family and dogs, adventuring locally as part of the Western New York Hiking Challenge and exploring science everywhere at @adventuring_in_science.
Kathleen Gibbs is a certified 7-12 biology and chemistry teacher with an extensive scientific background and a love for the biological sciences. She is an educator who creates an innovative classroom environment, both virtually and in person. Additionally, Kathleen is a NYS Master Teacher Emeritus partaking in the Empire State STEM Learning Network, through which Regional STEM hubs partner with businesses and agencies to better prepare students for STEM careers. Lastly, she works as an education specialist with the New York State Department of Education to create thoughtful assessments, helping students across the state.
Meg Helmes began her education career working in zoo and environmental education before making her way to more traditional classroom science teaching. She has had the opportunity to teach a wide range of science courses, including biology, earth science, physics, astronomy, and natural disasters. She is most proud to have served as a NYS Master Teacher for her state's science organization as Director of Equity & Social Justice.
Dave Welty is an experienced research scientist with a doctorate in molecular biology–based biochemistry. In addition, he is trained and certified in secondary biology and chemistry with over 23 years of classroom teaching experience and 19 years of teaching and learning supervision in a public high school. Additional STEM experience includes being the science outreach specialist for the Ocean Explorium in New Bedford, Massachusetts, from 2007 to 2015; adjunct professor at UMass-Dartmouth from 2005 to 2017; and Amgen Biotechnology Experience instructor and ambassador since 2018.

The Kenya Teacher Ambassador program aims to revolutionize science education in Kenyan high schools by empowering "Invention Educators'' to design pedagogically aligned lessons in biology, chemistry, physics, health education, and integrated science enriched with engaging virtual learning experiences on LabXchange.
